DUI Man Hit Pedestrian Leading To Serious Injuries: Naugatuck PD

The accused was held in lieu of a $100,000 bond.

NAUGATUCK, CT β€” A Naugatuck man is accused of driving while under the influence of alcohol at the time of an accident where his vehicle struck a pedestrian, which led to serious injuries, police said.

At 4 p.m. Wednesday, police received numerous calls reporting an accident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the parking lot of the Meineke Car Care Center located at 144 Rubber Avenue, police said.

Emergency responders said the pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Officers at the scene developed evidence that Domingos G. Teixeira, 53, of Rockwell Avenue, was suspected to be under the influence and he was taken into custody and charged with second-degree assault with a motor vehicle while intoxicated, DUI, reckless driving, and drinking an alcoholic beverage while driving.

He was held in lieu of a $100,000 bond.

Officers from the Naugatuck Valley Collision team consisting of officers from Cheshire, Middlebury, Plymouth, Watertown, Wolcott, and Naugatuck are investigating the accident.
