On Duty Naugatuck Police Officer Struck by Stolen Vehicle: Police

One person has been taken into custody and the officer is being evaluated at a local hospital.

NAUGATUCK, CT β€” A police officer was injured after a cruiser was struck by a stolen car Tuesday afternoon, police said.

Police said the officer's cruiser was struck by a stolen vehicle in the area of Elm Street. After striking the patrol vehicle, the suspect's vehicle continued on into the downtown area and the suspect abandoned the vehicle, attempting to take off on foot, police said.

However, officers quickly managed to apprehend this suspect, police said. There is one subject in custody and the police officer is being evaluated at a local hospital for minor injuries sustained from the collision, police said.
