Elderly Woman Dies At Hospital Following Waterbury House Fire

A firefighter was taken to a local hospital for observation, fire officials said.

WATERBURY, CT — Firefighters pulled an elderly woman out of a burning residence Saturday night, but she died due to her injuries.

Fire Capt. Edward Partridge said firefighters were summoned to the fire at the single-family home at 136 Pinecrest Dr. on Saturday around 10:11 p.m.

A caller reported a fire on the upper level of the home in a closet, and said a grandmother was still inside the residence. An additional call alerted rescuers that the grandmother was immobile, according to Partridge.
