Members of the football team have followed Avery’s courageous journey and have been inspired to do their part. In late August, the football team teamed up with community members to host a car wash raising over $2,000 to offset the medical costs incurred by the Moore Family. The team was overwhelmed by the generosity from supporters including Home Depot, Walmart, National Express, Girl Scout Troop 60046, Brooke Vicarioli and Mario’s Pizza.
Mayor Pete Hess, The Naugatuck Fire Department Local 1219 and Boy Scout Troop 102 also were instrumental contributors to the team’s efforts.

Recently, the team visited Avery at Gaylord Hospital. Greyhound players greeted Avery with the traditional fight song and shared an afternoon of conversation and laughter. Pastor Ollie Gray, an assistant coach for the Greyhounds, concluded the gathering with a blessing of hope and gratitude.
