'Extortion/Blackmail Incident' Leads To An Arrest: Naugatuck PD
Police say the accused tried to extort about $200,000 from the victim.
NAUGATUCK, CT β A Naugatuck man, James Maher, 49, of Sheridan Drive, is accused of trying to extort about $200,000 from the victim through "harassing and threatening means," police said in a news release.
Police said they responded to a local residence on Feb. 7 for an "extortion/blackmail incident." The accused was arrested and held on a $10,000 bond.
He is charged with criminal attempt at first-degree larceny.
