FAIRFIELD, Conn.— The Marion Peckham Egan School of Nursing and Health Studies proudly announces that its esteemed Post-Master’s Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program is adding a fully collaborative online modality in addition to its hybrid option. This initiative is designed to cater to the needs of busy healthcare professionals who aspire to stay at the forefront in the field, whether guiding the next generation of nurses through teaching roles, enhancing their technical skills and clinical expertise, or advancing into leadership roles on the local or international level. Appropriate for the advanced practice nurse, nurse educator, or nurse executive, the program offers faculty and peer engagement for which Fairfield Egan is known.

“The nursing field is rapidly growing and with that, the need for nurse leaders in an ever-changing healthcare environment,” said Egan School Assistant Professor of Nursing and Director of the Post-Master’s DNP program Dorothy Vittner, PhD, RN, FAAN. “Our Post-Master’s DNP equips nurses with the skills to navigate the complexities of healthcare systems and address critical gaps within communities. Rooted in the Jesuit philosophy, this advanced degree underlines the importance of ethics in healthcare.”
Ranked by College Factual among the 2024 Best Nursing Doctor’s Degree Schools in the New England Region, Fairfield Egan’s Online Post-Master’s DNP degree offers a comprehensive curriculum that can be completed within 18-24 months. With 25-50% synchronous classes held either weekly or biweekly during the evenings, the flexible online format allows students to balance full-time employment with academic pursuits.

Applications for fall 2024 enrollment are now open, and prospective candidates are encouraged to attend a virtual information session on March 21 at 6pm.
Qualified alumni of Egan’s Master of Science in Nursing and BSN programs who also hold a master’s degree, may take advantage of a streamlined application process for the Post-Master’s DNP, including a waived application fee, and expedited admission decision,
