Featuring scholars from the Jewish Historical Institute in Warsaw, Poland, “The Underground Archive of the Warsaw Ghetto: A Presentation on the Ringelblum Archives,” is co-sponsored by Fairfield’s Bennett Center for Judaic Studies, Campus Ministry and the Jewish Federation of Greater Fairfield County.


FAIRFIELD, Conn. — Fairfield University will host a Holocaust Remembrance Service entitled The Underground Archive of the Warsaw Ghetto: A Presentation on the Ringelblum Archives, on Thursday, April 18 at 2 p.m. in the Barone Campus Center Dogwood Room. The event will feature scholars from the Jewish Historical Institute in Warsaw, Poland, and is open to the public.

The Holocaust Remembrance Service is vital to help students understand the scope of this tragic era, while serving as a reminder of the millions of individuals who were murdered at the hands of the Nazis. The Holocaust Remembrance Service is co-sponsored by The Bennett Center for Judaic Studies, Campus Ministry, and the Jewish Federation of Greater Fairfield County.

Monika Krawczyk
2021-2024—Director of The Emanuel Ringelblum Jewish Historical Institute in Warsaw, Poland. Between 2004–2019 she was the CEO of the Foundation for Preservation of Jewish Heritage in Poland (FODZ). She is professional lawyer, between 1999-2020 she was a member of governmental Regulatory Commission on Jewish Property Restitution. She was President of Union of Jewish Communities in Poland (2019-2021). Since 2021 she is a Chairwomen of Council of Auschwitz Museum, member of the International Educational Board on Auschwitz and the Holocaust, member of the Honorary Committee of Heschel Center in Catholic University of Lublin, Poland. She is an author on numerous publications on Jewish-Polish relation, Jewish historical heritage, and speaker on those topics in many national and international forums.

Eleonora Bergman
Eleonora is a retired researcher of The Emanuel Ringelblum Jewish Historical Institute in Warsaw. She has held scholarships from ICCROM (International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and the Restoration of Cultural Property) in Rome, Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture in New York (twice) and the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington. Beside many articles, she published two books on history and architecture of synagogues. From around the year 2000 she is co-coordinator and co-editor of the Ringelblum Archive in Polish and English. She was awarded the National Order of the Legion of Honor and received the Prize of the City of Warsaw.
