Police said drivers should expect traffic delays downtown and avoid the area if possible during the event.

NAUGATUCK, CT — Food Truck Battles, a Connecticut food festival, is coming to Naugatuck this weekend, which will result in traffic delays downtown, according to police.

In a news release, police said drivers can expect delays in the downtown area surrounding the Naugatuck Event Center, located on Rubber Avenue, during the event. Officers will be posted at numerous roadways to ensure safe travel and redirection if necessary.

"With this all-day event expected to draw over 30,000 people to our town, we want to make sure our residents are prepared and can make the proper accommodations to go about their daily travels," police said in a news release.

Those attending the food truck event are asked to to bring a non-perishable food item for entry, as the goal of the event is to support local food banks, police said.

Once inside, guests can enjoy an array of foods, raffles, eating contests, live bands, comedy shows and more. Parking in the area is free, and festival hours are Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

"We are looking forward to ensuring everyone has a safe weekend," police said, "and shows up hungry."
