This year, Salem had Fulbright Scholars from Vietnam, Ethiopia, and Nigeria sharing information about their cultures and home countries. The presentation took place on the morning of Monday, Nov. 18.

"Salem Elementary School second graders explored the world without leaving their classrooms this morning when two Foreign Language Teaching Assistants and an Association Member from The Fulbright Program visited to share their cultures as part of Fulbright's Meet the World Program!

We were thrilled to welcome Mia Kiet from Vietnam, Idris Akinade from Nigeria and Teferi Abate from Ethiopia and learn all about their countries, languages, foods, celebrations and traditions.
Thank you to our friends from Fulbright as well as our fantastic second grade team at Salem for bringing such an enriching morning to our students!"

I am grateful to second grade teacher Kris DiMaio for the invitation to check out the event as they took place in the second grade classrooms.

"It’s a cool program," Ms. DiMaio told me. "I’m excited this is our 3rd year having Scholars come to us. We are also traveling with a Scholar from the US going to school in South Korea through the same group."
