GoFundMe Effort Launched In Memory Of Slain Waterbury 14-Year-Old
Angel Velez was stabbed to death on Wednesday; a suspect has been arrested in connection with the killing.
WATERBURY, CT — A GoFundMe campaign has been launched in memory of Angel Velez, a 14-year-old Waterbury teen who was stabbed to death on Wednesday afternoon.
WFSB-TV reported that police said Velez was stabbed during a verbal altercation at about 1:30 p.m. on Colonial Avenue. Arrested on a charge of murder was Jeimy Cintron, 27, who remains in custody in lieu of bail of $3 million.
"[Angel] was a loving, smart boy who was in school with good grades!" wrote Yahaira Morales, organizer of the GoFundMe effort. "A smile that would brighten up anyone’s day, he leaves behind two sisters, his Mom, his Family and friends who are going through the hardest time!"

As of Thursday evening, the GoFundMe page had raised more than $4,400, exceeding the goal of $3,000 which will go toward paying funeral expenses for Velez.
