Gun, 56 Bags Of Fentanyl Found In Stolen Car: Naugatuck Police

NAUGATUCK, CT β€” Police found more than 50 bags of suspected fentanyl along with crack cocaine and a gun in an abandoned stolen car after officers tried to stop it Monday night in Naugatuck, according to officials.

Police tried to stop the stolen vehicle around 9:20 p.m. on Waterbury Turnpike but the driver fled from officers. However, officers soon found the same stolen Honda Accord abandoned on Spring Brook Road in Waterbury, according to police.

Police found a Glock pistol with an obliterated serial number along with 56 bags of suspected fentanyl, and 7.2 grams of suspected crack cocaine, according to officials.

β€œThe destruction of a firearm’s serial number is consistent with efforts to render the weapon untraceable when used in various criminal endeavors,” police wrote in a news release. β€œThe investigation into the origins of the firearm and drugs is ongoing at this time and arrests may be forthcoming.

β€œThe Naugatuck Police recognize the danger that these illegal firearms pose to public and commend our officers’ efforts in removing this firearm and narcotics from the streets of the community.”
