Happy 10th Birthday Anthony!
Some Naugatuck heroes made for a very special birthday for one of Naugatuck's young citizens on Saturday afternoon.
Naugatuck, CT -Residents in the Beacon Valley Road area may have heard some sirens in their neighborhood around noon on Saturday, but the emergency was a little parade for Nick Albanese grandson in honor of his tenth birthday.
Deputy Mayor Laurie Taf Jackson contacted Naugatuck/Bethwood Patch Mayor Nancy Sasso Janis and invited her to be part of the parade. "I know you know Nick and thought it would be fun to have a few cars join the fire and police," Ms. Jackson wrote in her invitation. Ms. Janis has worked with Naugatuck Public School's custodian "Mr. Nick" and was so excited to be part of the no-contact celebration.
Participants met in the St Vincent’s parking lot for 12:00 (see photos.) When the police escort and three ladder trucks from the Naugatuck Fire Department arrived, the line of cars and trucks headed to Antonio's home. With sirens blaring, the parade drove by the birthday boy's house to wish Antonio a happy birthday. Many neighbors came out to wave at the parade participants.
