Hawk Injured After Flying Into Naugatuck Building Rescued By Police, Residents: PD

NAUGATUCK, CT — An injured hawk was rescued by police and community members after the animal flew into a building in Naugatuck over the weekend, according to the Naugatuck Police Department.

In a Facebook post Thursday, police said several concerned community members reported Saturday morning a hawk had flown into a Church Street building and fallen onto the sidewalk in a daze.

According to the department, good Samaritans used a blanket to keep the hawk safe until police and animal control officers arrived in the area.

Animal control then contacted the Department of Energy & Environmental Protection's Environmental Conservation Police, who transported the hawk to a wildlife rehabilitator for care, police said.

"Thank you to the residents who stopped to help and everyone who worked together to give this beautiful bird its best chance at recovery," police wrote on Facebook.
