NEW BRITAIN, CT - The Repertory Theatre has been a staple of the New Britain community since its inception at the Norden Street Lodge in 1955. At that time, members of the theatre group sold bonds to theatre members and friends in order to acquire the property, Since 1955, the theatre has been the home to over 250 plays and musicals. Beginning with the 2014 season, the group became known as Connecticut Theatre Company.

Connecticut Theatre Company quickly became known for their quality performances of popular musicals and plays and the group has seen much success, including a generous donation which allowed them to renovate the theatre, breathing fresh life into the beautiful space.

Renovations began in 2018, and have continued from top to bottom including a new roof for the location as well as the beautiful restoration of the original hardwood floors from the lodge hall. The lobby received a face lift which improved accessibility by removing stairs allowing for easy entrance to both ends of the theatre. Paint colors, lighting and the overall design were carefully selected to present a modern facility while still honoring the long-standing history of the building.

Perhaps most exciting was the addition of table seating, allowing guests of the theatre to enjoy their own food and beverages before or during the shows for a nominal up-charge from general admission seating. President Erin Campbell states, “We have received wonderful feedback about our cabaret style seating. As theatre has evolved, the needs of our patrons have as well, and we’re fortunate to be able to meet those needs and provide theatergoers with a wonderful experience.”

Connecticut Theatre Company’s sixth season begins March 22nd with the opening of the comedic farce Moon Over Buffalo. The season is rounded out by four blockbuster musicals including, Into the Woods, Memphis, Disaster!, and Meet Me In St. Louis.
