Hurricane Irene: Cancellations and Store Openings
Details on what stores plan on staying open during the hurricane, and what events have been called off.

Here’s a list of events that are canceled this weekend.
Saturday
- St. Francis-St. Hedwig School's pre-K orientation, kindergarten orientation and the Hot Dog Roast for. Events canceled for Tuesday as well. (First day of school is Wednesday, Aug. 31).
Sunday

- has been canceled completely and will not be held at any other date. (First day of school also Wednesday, Aug. 31).
- Real Estate: scheduled through Coldwell Banker Realty 2000 have been canceled.
Here are a list of stores that plan on staying open during the hurricane:
- , 1100 New Haven Road
“We would not close down until safety became an issue in respect to the hurricane,” said Bill Wertz, Walmart spokesman. “Obviousy we put the safety or our customers and associates at the top of our lists, so, plans could change quicly depending on the pattersn of the storm.”
- , 85 Bridge St.
A store manager confirmed Big Y will open Saturday at 6:30 a.m. rather than 7 a.m. Store closes at 10 p.m.
- Super Stop & Shop, 727 Rubber Ave., open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
