Jazz Fest Special Guest Announced at WCSU

Announcing special guest Charles Tolliver, trumpet at WCSU Jazz Fest!

The Department of Music at WCSU presents the 27th annual Jazz Fest, April 25-28.

Jazz Fest Thursday (April 25) returns with some outstanding groups: Jazz Combos, Vocal Jazz and Jazz Ensemble. Friday’s performance on April 26 features the WCSU Jazz Orchestra and special guest Charles Tolliver, trumpet. Saturday’s performance (April 27) consists of WCSU Jazz Faculty, featuring Danton Boller, Will Gorman, Haneef Nelson, Carmen Staff and Jeff Siegel. Jazz Fest ends on Sunday, April 28th with three groups; two of which are comprised of some of the most outstanding, select, high school students from across the state. These groups will be directed by Dr. Jimmy Greene and Jamie Begian. Following the high school student all-star bands, and bringing the festival to a close, Jamie Begian will lead an outstanding big band of WCSU alumni in a set of music for large jazz ensemble.
