Juvenile Charged with DUI on New Year's Eve in Naugatuck

The juvenile engaged police in a pursuit and was later arrested at his home in Waterbury.

A Waterbury juvenile was charged with driving under the influence on New Year’s Eve.

Naugatuck Police observed a blue Honda CRV travelling at a high speed on Candee Road onto New Haven Road with only one headlamp illuminated at around 3:30 a.m. on Dec. 31. The Honda did not stop when police attempted to stop the vehicle and continued onto Route 8 North to exit 28. After obtaining a registration plate number, the pursuing officer terminated the pursuits.

According to police, DMV records showed the vehicle registered at an address on Alpine Street in Waterbury.

Officers from both Naugatuck and Waterbury responded to the address where they identified the operator of the vehicle as a 17-year-old male juvenile.

The juvenile was suspected of driving under the influence and failed tests administered by officers.

The juvenile was charged with engaging police in a pursuit, operating a motor vehicle while license is suspended, driving under the influence and reckless driving.
