Kaynor Tech Loses a Beloved Music Teacher
Students and staff mourn the loss of teacher Ms. Donna Finn.
David Talesca, principal of Kaynor Technical High School in Waterbury, announced today that the school has suffered the loss of another faculty member. Ms. Donna Finn, a music teacher at the high school, passed away yesterday after a long battle with cancer.

Mr. Talesca called Ms. Finn βa wonderful person, a great teacher and she truly, truly loved her students. She will be missed by staff and students alike.β In order to assist students in dealing with this tragedy, the principal urged them to see the school counselors or to speak with any adult that they feel comfortable with if they would like to talk when they return to school tomorrow.

Ms. Finn was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma in 2013. In October of that year, the Kaynor Tech High School staff sponsored a βNight of Musicβ in her honor. Fund that were raised were given to the family to defer medical cost and also to create a scholarship. The Donna Finn Scholarship will be awarded annually to the student who expresses a passionate appreciation for music and the arts.
In December of 2013, plumbing instructor John Maida of Naugatuck was killed in a car accident.
