“Better Without You” is described as fast-paced, sincere and to the point. The song begins with smooth piano chords and White’s soulful voice. Then the track is taken over in the chorus by a strong bassline and her seriously powerful vocal performance. It has the perfect ingredients for a summertime dance pop smasher.

White, who is the daughter of Marisa Valente, is a recent graduate of Holy Cross High School in Waterbury and will be headed to college in the fall. She stated that most of her songs are inspired by her experiences, and she describes “Better Without You” as a “confidence anthem.”

She has appeared in numerous plays and musicals for which she won two awards for Best Actress, two years in a row. At the age of 12, White portrayed the title role in the Landmark Community Theatre’s acclaimed production of “The Diary of Anne Frank” in Thomaston, under the direction of Lucia Dressel. I was so glad that I was able to review her performance in this fine production.
In 2017, she had the role of “Little Girl” in “Ragtime,” under the direction of Duane Campbell at Connecticut Theatre Company in New Britain.
White has also acted in many films. She played the role of Geraldine in Wally Lamb’s “Wishin’ and Hopin’” for Lifetime television, and played the role of Sara in the film “Christmas All Over Again.” She was also cast in the movie “Saving Christmas” starring Ed Asner.
Lexi sang for the MLB‘s New York Mets at Citi Field 3 times as well as the WNBA’s CT Sun. She sang “The National Anthem” for both the Connecticut Governor’s Inauguration in 2019, and the opening of the 2020 Connecticut Senate.
Lexi told Ann Nyberg during an interview on WTNH that she loves both singing and acting, but because they are so different, she would not be able to choose a favorite way to perform. She dreams of a world tour in which she can perform for a wider audience.
I used to dream of an ending,
Where the story would change.
But I gave up pretending,
No use turnin’ the page.
