Longtime Little League Volunteer Mourned In Naugatuck

Richard Neary volunteered for more than 30 years with the Peter J. Foley Little League, serving as coach, director and treasurer.

NAUGATUCK, CT — The Peter J. Foley Little League is mourning the loss of longtime volunteer Richard Neary, who died unexpectedly at home last week. He was 66.

“Mr. Neary spent the past 30+ years volunteering his time & giving back to the community as a Coach, Director & League Official (Treasurer) during his time at PJFLL,” officials wrote in a post on the Peter J. Foley Little League’s Facebook page. “As we mourn the loss of Rich please keep his family in your thoughts & prayers.

“Our condolences go out to the Neary family. We would like to thank his wife Margie, sons Joe & Chris for sharing your beloved husband & father with our Foley Family.

“He will be greatly missed!”

Neary was a graduated of Naugatuck High School, class of 1972, and attended Western Connecticut State University. He was a retired warehouse supervisor and worked for several contractors, according to his obituary.
