Police said a man was arrested after he assaulted a juvenile with a baseball bat, forcing a second juvenile and their mother to intervene.

NAUGATUCK, CT β€” Two men were arrested Tuesday after one of the men attacked a juvenile with a bat, forcing a second juvenile and their mother to intervene, according to Naugatuck police.

In a news release, police said they received a report of an assault on two juveniles, ages 16 and 17, at a Ward Street home around 3:30 p.m.

According to police, officers determined Carmine Navarra, 18, drove to the home and began asking a mother for her two juvenile children.

He then approached the home with a baseball bat and a physical altercation took place between Navarra and one of the juveniles, prompting the mother and the other juvenile to intervene and try to grab the baseball bat, police said.

During the altercation, John Bento, 18, arrived in a separate vehicle and got involved in the fight, according to police.

The juveniles and their mother were injured and treated by Emergency Medical Service officers, police said.

Navarra was charged with second and third-degree assault, as well as second-degree breach of peace. He was held on a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court this month, police said.

Bento was charged with third-degree assault. He was held on a $10,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court this month, according to police.
