Man Attempts to Rob Naugatuck Liquor Store at Knifepoint; Clerk Refuses to Give Cash

Naugatuck police say the man ran away after the clerk told him she wouldn't give him any money.

Naugatuck police are searching for the man responsible for an attempted robbery at Paiva’s Liquors at knifepoint Wednesday evening, police said.

Police said just before 6 p.m. police received a report of an attempted robbery of Paiva’s Liquors at 161 Rubber Ave.

The on duty clerk reported that a heavy set white male entered the store wearing a hunter green colored jacket and a white baseball cap and demanded cash.

The clerk observed the suspect holding a small dark object which was suspected to be a knife, police said. The clerk advised that she refused to give the subject cash and that upon doing so the suspect fled the store on foot, police said.

Naugatuck PD units searched the area utilizing a police K9 however the suspect was not located.

No surveillance footage was available to be released. The investigation is still active and no further details are available at this time.
