Man Caught Attempting To Break Into Business: Naugatuck Police

Police said an officer on patrol observed a man trying to break into a local business.

NAUGATUCK, CT β€” An alert police officer is being credited for helping to thwart an attempted commercial burglary, police said.

During the early morning hours of Sunday, Officer Emilio Masella was proactively surveilling a local business due to an increase of commercial burglaries in the area, police said.

Masella saw a male suspect approach the front door of the business and attempt to gain entry using a crow bar, police said. After a brief foot chase, the suspect who was identified as Tyler Spadaccini, 27, was taken into custody and charged with first-degree criminal attempt at burglary, possession of burglary tools and first-degree criminal mischief.

"We commend Officer Masella’s proactive efforts that prevented a local business from being burglarized," Naugatuck police said in a news release.
