Man Charged With Assault, Violates Protective Order: Naugatuck PD

The victim said that the accused threw a cell phone that hit her in the face causing a minor injury, police said in a report.

NAUGATUCK, CT β€” A Waterbury man, Rolando Baerga, 33, is facing several charges after being involved in a domestic dispute in Naugatuck, police said.

At 6:35 p.m. on Jan. 11, police responded to a residence. Police say Baerga became involved in an argument with the victim that escalated, when according to the victim, the accused threw a cell phone at the victim that hit her in the face causing a minor injury, police said.

The accused was also in violation of a standing Protective Order by being in the presence of the victim and causing harm to the victim, police added. Baerga also tried to give a different name to officers on scene to avoid being charged with the violation of the order, police said.

Baerga is charged with criminal impersonation, third-degree assault, violation of a protective order, and second-degree breach of peace. He was initially held in lieu of a $50,000 bond.
