A Southington police officer responding to the scene spotted the SUV on West Center Street and attempted to stop it, police said. The vehicle stopped momentarily and then drove away, police said.
Because of slushy road conditions the pursuit was called off, according to a news release.
A description of the SUV was broadcast to surrounding towns and multiple agencies — including Naugatuck and state police — came into contact with the vehicle, according to a news release.
The vehicle was stopped on Route 8 in and the operator fled. Southington detectives obtained a surveillance video.
There was no weapon shown and none was implied, police said.
Once captured by state police and identified, Latino was taken to Waterbury Hospital for evaluation, according to a news release.
