Man Engages Police In Pursuit, Crashes Car: Naugatuck Police

The accused was initially held in lieu of a $20,000 bond, police say.

NAUGATUCK, CT β€” A Torrington man, Joshua Silverman, 29, of Eastwood Road, is accused of engaging police in pursuit before crashing his vehicle in Woodbridge, Naugatuck Police said.

At 10:14 p.m. on Jan. 27, Naugatuck Police tried to stop a car near Beacon Valley Road by Cotton Hollow Road. The accused sped away after the officer exited his cruiser and approached Silverman's vehicle, police said.

Police said Silverman was driving a vehicle with no insurance, no registration, improper marker plate, and a suspended license, and the accused had two outstanding arrest warrants, police said. He was later arrested in Woodbridge after crashing his car, police said.

He was found to be in possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, police said. He was arrested and held in lieu of a $20,000 bond.

He is charged with engaging police in pursuit, evading responsibility, reckless driving, interfering with an officer, first-degree reckless endangerment, and possession of a controlled substance.
