Man Left Children Unattended For Long Periods: Naugatuck PD

Police say the children were playing near the roadway while unsupervised.

NAUGATUCK, CT β€” A Naugatuck man is accused of leaving children outside of his home for long periods of time while unsupervised, police said. On July 1 at 8:17 p.m. police responded to Olive Street for unsupervised juveniles playing near the roadway, police said.

It was discovered through the investigation that Matthew Demers, 33, of Olive Street, had left the young juveniles unattended outside of the residence for a long period of time and that this was not the first time, police said. The accused also had a warrant for his arrest.

Demers is charged with risk of injury to a child and second-degree failure to appear. He was held in lieu of a $5,000 bond.
