Man Stole Money From Local Church: Naugatuck Police
Police say the accused has taken money from the collection box on multiple occasions.
NAUGATUCK, CT β A Waterbury man is accused of stealing money from a local church, Naugatuck Police said. At 8:52 a.m. on Sept. 23, police responded to St. Francis of Assisi Church located at 318 Church Street for a report of a larceny from a collection box.
Officers were told by a witness that a man was prying open the collection box and taking money from it, police said. The officer located the accused, David C. Lavigne, 56, of Bradley Avenue, sometime later based on the description given, police said.
The accused was positively identified by the witness as the person who was stealing the money from the collection box, police said.

Through the officer's investigation it was also found that the accused has taken money from the collection box on multiple occasions for an unknown amount of money, police said. This incident the accused took less than $500, police said.
He is charged with sixth-degree larceny and possession of burglar tools.
