Man Threatens Bar Patrons, Assaults Officers: Naugatuck Police

The accused is being held in lieu of a $100,000 bond.

NAUGATUCK, CT β€” A Prospect man, George Navikauskas, 58, of Summit Road, is being held in lieu of a $100,000 bond after threatening patons of a local bar, driving while under the influence, and for assaulting and threatening police officers, Naugatuck Police said.

On Feb. 2 at 7:39 p.m. officers responded to Riddles Cafe on North Main Street for a person who was found to be intoxicated and starting arguments with other patrons, police said. The accused was found operating his vehicle at the time attempting to leave the area, police said.

Through the officer's investigation, the accused was found to be operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, police said. It was also found that Navikauskas threatened several patrons while at the establishment, police said, and was then arrested.

"While in custody, the accused continued to be belligerent. The accused threatened and assaulted officers, and caused damage to municipal property," police said.

The accused was processed and held on a $100,000 bond. He is charged with second-degree threatening, second-degree harassment, interfering with an officer, second-degree breach of peace, illegally operating a motor vehicle while under the influence, third-degree criminal mischief, and assault on a police officer.
