NAUGATUCK, CT — Police are investigating an argument between a pedestrian and a driver that is believed to have included a thrown rock, a knife, a gun, and the pedestrian struck by the vehicle over the weekend in Naugatuck, according to officials.

Police responded to Cherry Street near the intersection of the Salem Bridge and Mario’s Pizza around 10 p.m. on Saturday to investigate the reported dispute.

The driver called police after he said a man threw a rock at his vehicle on Cherry Street by Mario’s Pizza, according to officials. He told police that he confronted the man and the incident escalated with the pedestrian allegedly pointing a knife at the vehicle and its occupants.

“Police believe a firearm may have been brandished during this incident,” officials wrote in a news release. “During the course of the incident, the unknown male is believed to have been struck by the complainant’s vehicle. The unknown male fled the scene. Police canvassed the area on the night of the incident but have not been able to locate the unknown male. Police suspect the male may be injured and could have sought out medical treatment after this incident.”
