Man Told Police He Is A Federal Law Enforcement Officer But He Isn't: Naugatuck Police
Police said they first responded to a call involving a reported strangulation.

NAUGATUCK, CT — When Naugatuck Police arrived to a domestic disturbance call between a man and a woman the accused said he was a federal law enforcement officer, police said, but upon further checking that wasn't the case.
Police said at 1:09 p.m. on June 28 officers investigated a domestic disturbance between boyfriend and girlfriend. During an argument, Christopher Nezio, 39, of High Street in Canaan, allegedly grabbed the victim by her neck, police said.
Police said officers were looking for Nezio, who was wanted on a warrant for the incident referenced above. The accused was located at a friend's residence in Naugatuck, police said. When the officers made contact with the accused, he stated he was a federal law enforcement officer, police said. Nezio was in possession of what appeared to be authentic federal credentials, police said.

The accused was found not to be a federal officer and charged in impersonating an officer, police said.
Nezio is charged with impersonation of a police officer, second-degree strangulation, and third-degree assault. He was held on a bond.
