Hi everyone, well, itβs been a while β I know, I know, I have requests for the Too Bad Arrest segment all the time β¦ Itβs just that β¦ well, Iβm not going to make excuses β¦.
Well β actually, YES I AM β¦. Iβm busy β¦ I have a lot on my plateβ¦. Time gets away from me β¦. The dog ate my homework β¦ I just havenβt done it!!

Now, thatβs not to say that there have not been some TOO BAD worthy arrests made over the past few weeks and months β¦. Just with that darn dog eating my stuff, I havenβt been able to get to them!! β¦ Well, that all changed yesterday when this little nugget of an arrest strolled in β¦ this one folks Iβm sure you will agree is about as TOO BAD worthy as they get!!
Okay β so firs lets insert our usual disclaimer here β¦ "All persons in these segments are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and we reserve the right to change the names of those involved (if names are used at all) to protect the innocent" ...
So it all started back on June 21st β¦ Iβd like to have written that it was a dark and stormy night β¦ but June 21 was actually a hot and sunny Tuesday β¦ we will have to make doβ¦ Any way β on June 21st, at the Bank of America on Church St. sat an ATM machine β¦ Just sitting in the wall minding its own business β¦ until the start of this week TOO BAD segment drove up to the bank to do some businessβ¦.
β¦ It was innocent enough, our star β¦ letβs call him βRockβ β¦. For reasons that will become apparent later in the story β¦. βRockβ drove up to the ATM and conducted a transaction that would not seem out of the ordinary
β¦. Rock apparently pulled out his ATM card and slipped it into the ATM β¦ Rock then proceeded to reach into his pocket to pull out some cash that he wanted to deposit β¦. Butβ¦ what β¦ the ATM would not accept the deposit β¦. It seemed β¦ that the ATM β¦. Was β¦ jammed β¦.. thatβs right β I said the ATM was jammed β stuck
β βATM -No Work-Ieeβ β¦ but why you ask??? β¦ why would a high tech piece of banking equipment β¦ suddenly just βjamβ ??? β¦.
Well, surely Rock was not happy about this β¦ but for some reason when Rock ran into this jamming issue he did not notify the bank β¦. Oddly he just drove off β¦. No transaction made β¦ and the jam ate his money β¦. Strange - right??? β¦
Well the bank employees noticed a problem with the ATM and promptly notified their βATM-Fixer-Guyβ β¦ after all this IS a high tech piece of banking equipment β¦ and yes that is an official tittle β¦ at least for a Too Bad segmentβ¦ donβt argue with me β my segment, I make the rules β¦..
β¦ so the βATM-Fixer-Guyβ opens the machine and β¦ gasp β¦.. what does he find??? β¦. Rocks deposit β¦. Currency β¦.with a small plastic baggy β¦that was stuck to the money being deposited β¦. AND β¦ the small baggy contained β¦ what appeared to be β¦. Gasp (again!) β¦. (Iβm going to use the official police jargon term used by the investigating officer in his arrest report β¦) βan off-white rock like substance, which I know through my training and experience to be consistent with the appearance of crack-cocaineβ
β¦. The βATM βFixer-Guyβ immediately stopped what he was doing and contacted the Naugatuck Police β¦ and the investigating officer determined β¦. As we all already know that the substance appeared to be crack cocaine β¦ a βRockβ if you will β¦ (β¦In case there are any firemen that may be having this read to them β¦.
Thatβs where our name for the suspect came from β βRockβ β¦. This is where whomever is reading this to the firemen should explain it again slowly β¦ so they can catch up β¦ maybe draw them a picture β¦ go ahead, we will all wait right here while you do thatβ¦)
β¦ Anyway, the substance was tested and came back positive as crack cocaineβ¦. Rock was identified through the little βcamera-thingyβ in the ATM as he conducted his transaction β¦. Which was cross confirmed through his deposit information β¦..
β¦ this one can definitely be chalked up to a βbad dayβ for Rock β¦. What money he didnβt spend on crack cocaine was lost β¦along with his crack cocaine β¦. And then he likely had no money to buy more crack cocaine β¦ because the machine jammed and he didnβt have his ATM card β¦. This is of course assuming that the crack cocaine stuck to the deposit was his β¦ (Please see the above disclaimer regarding the βAll persons in these segments are innocent until proven guilty in a court of lawβ) β¦
Well β there you have it folks β¦ reality is truly stranger than fiction β¦ you canβt make this stuff up β¦ and why would you try?? β¦ hope you enjoyed this segment of NPDβs TOO BAD ARRESTS β¦. Until next time, remember β¦. We Will Be Here!!!
