Marissa Perry Receives Surprise Proposal

Bridgeport, CT -Marissa Follo Perry, the Broadway actress born in Waterbury, CT, received a big surprise on stage Sunday during the bows for the final performance of SISTER ACT at Downtown Cabaret.

The director of the show thought that she was just being called to the stage by actor Kyle Riedinger to be presented with flowers and a gift from the cast during the curtain call that ended with a rousing chorus of "Raise Your Voice." Ms. Perry headed to the stage from the audience and graciously lauded the efforts of the SISTER ACT cast.

Then a gentleman dressed in street clothes, Ms. Perry's long-time boyfriend Chris Jones, stepped out of the cast line and got down on one knee. In a video posted on the actress' Facebook page, the shocked director dropped her bouquet of flowers and took a step closer to hear the proposal. It is clear in the video that she immediately said "yes" as the SISTER ACT cast erupted in cheers.

Ms. Perry posted the proposal video on her page this morning and changed her relationship status to engaged.

Marissa Perry appeared as Tracy Turnblad in HAIRSPRAY on Broadway and then appeared in the ensemble in the Broadway production of SISTER ACT which opened in April 2011. She directed a fantastic production of GUYS AND DOLLS with Naugatuck Teen Theatre before moving to the West Coast where she worked as Regional Manager at Vivax Medical Corporation.
