Today is August 5 at 4:30pm. Day two of Storm Isaias.

As of this time, Eversource has 3900 customers without power in Naugatuck. We also have numerous roads that can't be cleared by our town crews because of downed wires, that require Eversource crews to disentangle.

We've been working around the clock with our crews to get through the storm as best we can. But we need Eversource, and we've been pushing them to come. We've been told that their crews will be arriving shortly.

We've also been advised by Eversource that because of the severity of this storm that this could be a 2 to 10 Day event. We feel that people should plan for at least a 2-day event.

When you see downed wires. Stay away. Don't touch them. Don't touch the trees around them. If you see yellow tape in the road. You know, it's already been called in by our people. The yellow tape does not mean it's a safe area.

If you need to call something in, call fire dispatch, a 24-hour number at 203-720-7083. You can also email unifiedcommand@naugatuck-ct.gov. Also remember that social media isn't really helpful and isn't followed by our town crews.

Also know that there's water available at the fire department, you can charge your phones there, and we will be reevaluating the situation daily for a host of other potential issues that could come up.
