Good Afternoon,

Today is Friday, May 1 at 4:30pm. This is day 57 of the crisis in Naugatuck. Today's count in Naugatuck is 185, with one death. Our actual count for yesterday and today is 4.

So, what do these numbers tell us? Well, we're not out of the woods yet. We need to continue to follow all social distancing guidelines and we also need to realize that this is going to go on for quite some time, probably longer than we all expect.

Now the number one question and problem we have at Unified Command is, why aren't people wearing masks in stores. Well, the governor's order has sort of a loophole in it. Some people have medical conditions and can't wear masks. We understand that. Others have no excuse. Our answer and solution is simple, stay away from those in stores with legitimate medical conditions who can't wear masks. And also, stay away from all the knot heads who don't wear masks and refuse to wear them. I can tell you all this, they couldn't get near me no matter how hard they try.

We also want to thank all the community members who have stepped up to the plate and helped out in many ways, making masks, delivering masks, helping with donations, prescriptions, and looking out for their neighbors.

Two reminders; don't forget to fill out your census forms, every person who doesn't sign up costs the town $2,900 a year, the forms can be done online, by mail, or by phone. Also remember, we've opened up a whole bunch of new really cool hiking trails, and we have our hike of the week. Maps are available online and in the Town Hall in a mail slot in the lobby.
