Missing Child, 8, Found Safely in Arizona: Naugatuck Police

The child had been missing since Saturday and a Silver Alert was issued on Sunday.

NAUGATUCK, CT — Police say Mariah Snyder, 8, has been found unharmed in Arizona, two days after she was reported missing from Naugatuck.

"She has been located in Arizona and found to be safe and unharmed. The silver alert has been cancelled," Police Lt. Bryan Cammarata said in a news release at 10:30 a.m. Monday.

No other details were immediately released Monday morning.

A Silver Alert was issued Sunday stating that Mariah went missing from Naugatuck Sept. 17.

At the time police said, Mariah was last seen 1 p.m. Saturday leaving her home with a family member, Megan Mizell, 33, to visit another family member in Waterbury, Erica Mizell, 47, police said.

Mariah was never brought home and was suspected to be with the two family members, Megan and Erica Mizell, police.

In a late Sunday update, police released information regarding a possible suspect vehicle. The vehicle was described as a 2017 Dodge Caravan – Color: GRAY with Connecticut Registration: AF76355.

Police at the time said the subjects may be in the Waterbury area or possibly may be headed to the Mesa, Arizona area as well.

On Sunday, Cammarata said, "Based on information we have received it is suspected she is with family members. These are the two family members she was with when last seen yesterday (one family member took her to see the other family member in Waterbury)...These same two family members have indicated in the recent past that they were going to take Mariah to Arizona where her birth mother resides (and is another family member)," Cammarata added.
