Mount Kilimanjaro Won't Stop Naugatuck Cop From Helping Others

The police officer is raising money for Special Olympics Connecticut and needs your help.

Naugatuck Police Detective Tom McGarvey to climb Mount Kilimanjaro to support Special Olympics Connecticut. Detective Tom McGarvey will represent the Naugatuck Police Department and join a dedicated group of law enforcement officers from around the state in an attempt to ascend Mount Kilimanjaro and raise over $100,000 for Special Olympics Connecticut along the way.

Located in the East African country of Tanzania and standing 19,341 feet above sea level, Kilimanjaro holds the title for the tallest freestanding mountain in the world. The team is currently planning for a February 2020 summit.

Detective McGarvey is one of about a dozen law enforcement officers from Connecticut who have committed themselves to this cause. Detective McGarvey; a veteran of the United States Marine Corps enjoys a challenge...As evident by some of his photos he submitted- climbing to high places and hiking on treacherous trails regardless of weather conditions is apparently a "fun" hobby of his. In any case, this time it is for a good cause!
