Ms. Russell Steps Into the Role of Interim Dean of Students
Michelle Russell will take on the role of Interim Dean of Students at Naugatuck High School for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.

Naugatuck, CT - The Naugatuck Public Schools have posted their thanks to Naugatuck High School Mathematics Department Head Michele Russell for stepping up to the role of Interim Dean of Students at the high school for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.

"We know that her strong relationship with students and her deep commitment to our school and community will allow her to support Jim Leary and Brian Mariano in maintaining the safe, positive, and welcoming school climate that we've enjoyed so far this year," the school district posted on Monday on their Facebook page.
Ms. Russel was born and raised in Naugatuck. She attended Cross Street Elementary School, City Hill Middle School and graduated from Naugatuck High School in 1979. Her teaching experience includes eight years at Kolbe Cathedral High School, Bridgeport, CT and 27 years at Naugatuck High School. She is a 1983 graduate of Regis College with a BS in Mathematics and Elementary Education, a 1990 graduate of Sacred Heart University with a Masters in Teaching and Learning and a 2015 Graduate of Southern Connecticut State University with a 6th Year in Educational Leadership. Ms. Russell is a proud daughter of the first woman mayor of Naugatuck, Joan B. Taf.

The school district added that the Associate Principal position at the high school will remain vacant for now; they will conduct a search and begin the interview process in the spring.
