Naugatuck Budget Details: Here's What You Need to Know

NAUGATUCK, CT — Good news Naugatuck residents, it appears that the budget proposal for next year will slightly reduce the tax rate. The Republican-American reports that spending will increase by $1 million to $121.4 next year but because of revenues the tax rate will dip slightly.

Most of the $1 million increase is to fund health insurance costs. The tax decrease could have been greater but the state reduced the Borough's aid by $3.7 million, the Rep-Am reports.

The Board of Education didn't receive an increase. The budget still needs to be finalized later in May.
