NAUGATUCK, CT β€” The final approved Naugatuck budget includes an increase in the town's tax rate. Town boards approved a $127.1 million spending plan for fiscal 2020-21, which increases spending by $1.9 million, according to My Citizen's News.

The tax rate increases by 0.5 mills to 47.75 and if a taxpayer's home is assessed at $100,000 they'll pay $4,775 in property taxes.

Initially, the tax rate was expected to be flat but the local boards decided to use $850,000 less from the contingency fund which keeps the rainy day fund in better shape, My Citizen's News reports.
