Naugatuck Burger Restaurant, Ice Cream Shop Announce Sudden Closure

NAUGATUCK, CT — A Naugatuck burger restaurant and ice cream stand located at the same address in Naugatuck announced their closure Sunday.

In a message posted to its Naugatuck location's Facebook page, G's Burgers announced "with mixed emotions" Sunday would be the restaurant's final day of operation.

"We are incredibly grateful to have served the Naugatuck and surrounding communities for the past 13 years," the message reads. "Thank you to all of our customers and supporters who have been with us through it all."

The restaurant also encouraged customers to stop in that day "to bid farewell and grab one last fresh burger, hand cut fries and premium ice cream sundae."

Twin Scoops Creamery, an ice cream shop located in the same building, also announced it will permanently close Monday.

In a message posted to the shop's Facebook page, Twin Scoops Creamery thanked customers in Naugatuck for their overwhelming support over the weekend.

"Naugatuck, you really showed up for us," the ice cream shop's post reads. "We are still so overwhelmed by the amount of love and support we received [Sunday]. We completely SOLD OUT of everything on the G's side, and after 13 incredible years, G's Burgers in Naugatuck is officially closed."

The ice cream shop also noted it could not have asked for a better way to say goodbye to the community.

"Seeing so many familiar faces, longtime customers, friends, families and new faces come through our doors meant more to us than you know," the post reads. "But we weren't quite ready to say goodbye to Twin Scoops just yet…After seeing the incredible turnout yesterday, we stayed up all night making ice cream sandwiches, novelties and treats so we could have ONE LAST DAY to share with you!"

Customers who purchase ice cream from the store Monday can enjoy a buy-one-get-one-free deal while supplies last.

"Thank you, Naugatuck, for 13 amazing years of memories, support and love," the post reads. "We truly couldn't have done it without you."

A second G's Burgers restaurant located in Watertown will remain open.

In a message posted to the location's Facebook page Monday afternoon, the Watertown restaurant clarified it "is here to stay" and will remain open.

"For more than 18 years, we've been proud to call Watertown home, and we're incredibly grateful for the community that has supported us along the way," the message reads. "Our recent long-term agreement with Carvel means your favorite burgers and ice cream aren't going anywhere, and we look forward to serving you for many more years to come!"

The restaurant also noted customers with a G's gift card purchased at the Naugatuck location can use it at the original Watertown location.
