Naugatuck Chef Competes In World Food Championship
Carol Koty will compete for a $100,000 prize.
NAUGATUCK, CT — Carol Koty, a Naugatuck chef, has qualified to compete for the $100,000 grand prize in the 10th World Food Championship in the Lake Murray area of South Carolina in April.
Called "The Final Table" challenge, the competition pits the best chefs against each other in the following categories, Bacon, Barbecue, Burger, Chef, Dessert, Recipe, Sandwich, Seafood, Soup and Steak.
Koty, who is the Food and Beverage Director at Pomperaug Woods, won the World Seafood Championship this past fall, which qualified her for the World Food Championship.

To win the seafood competition, Koty made a "Sea Bass, Handmade Fettuccini & Italian Shrimp Sausage" dish, in which she made the pasta and shrimp sausage by hand, according to the event organizers.
In the ninth annual World Food Championships, Koty competed with her husband, Nicholas Sidorick, who has served as her sous chef, reported My Citizen News.
