Naugatuck Deputy Fire Chief Officially Sworn In
A new firefighter in the Naugatuck Fire Department was also sworn in Friday evening.
Deputy Fire Chief Ellen E. Murray was officially sworn in Friday afternoon during a ceremony at the Naugatuck Fire Department.
, however the swearing in was for ceremonial purposes. Murray, a former Stratford assistant fire chief, is the first woman to serve in the Naugatuck Fire Department as well as the first officer to be appointed from outside of the department.
Mayor Robert A. Mezzo held the swearing in ceremony in front of a crowd of firefighters and family members on Friday.

Also sworn in was Jason Seaman, the department's newest firefighter. Seaman, 22, was one of 88 people to apply for the job and  on the borough's fire exam. He recently finished several weeks of training at the Connecticut Fire Academy in Windsor Locks.
