Naugatuck Fire Police Looking for Five New Officers
The Naugatuck Fire Police is a volunteer component of the Naugatuck Fire Department.

NAUGATUCK, CT - The Naugatuck Fire Police is looking for five new officers.
The Naugatuck Fire Police is a volunteer component of the Naugatuck Fire Department. The Fire Police are given powers and responsibilities under State Statutes and are responsible for traffic and crowd control and access to fire scenes or other emergency situations where the Fire Department is in charge. The Fire Police are also called upon in times of natural disaster. Additionally, they assist and supplement the Police Department whenever called upon.
The Fire Police also have a proud tradition of assisting with traffic control at all public events in Naugatuck, such as parades, fireworks, festivals, fairs, and any other civic event where traffic control is needed. They also represent Naugatuck at the State level each year, assisting with traffic control at the Connecticut State Firefighter’s Convention Parade.

The Naugatuck Fire Police also runs three large food drives a year to benefit The Naugatuck Ecumenical Food Bank. This year during Covid-19, the Fire Police also control and supervise the traffic patterns at the monthly State drive-thru food bank at the Naugatuck Event Center.
To be eligible, one must be 18 years old, hold a current drivers license, pass a background check, and be accepted by an interview panel.

All training, uniforms and gear are provided. Application packets are available in the lobby of Fire Headquarters, 41 Maple Street.
