Naugatuck First Responders Honored at Waterbury Hospital

Naugatuck first responders honored at Waterbury Hospital for saving 10 year old boy who collapsed at Maple Hill School.

On April 28 around noon, Naugatuck Police were dispatched to arguably one of the worst types of calls we can receive, a 10 year old child had collapsed in school and was unresponsive. Naugatuck Police Sergeant Deely, Officer Robinson, and Officer Durette were sent along with Naugatuck EMS crews while it was reported that school staff had begun CPR on the child. Officer Robinson arrived on scene within 10 seconds of being dispatched to this call, and immeidtely took over CPR. Sergeant Deely, Officer Durette and Naugatuck EMS arrived just minutes later, and all begun to continue the life saving care of this young student. The boy was transported to Waterbury Hospital, and then later transported to Yale New Haven Hospital.

Today, through the life saving efforts of Maple Hill School Staff, Naugatuck Police, and EMS this 10 year old boy has survived his medical emergency, and will be presenting the first responders all with an award recognizing their service.
This event is being hosted by Waterbury Hospital, and begins tonight at 6 pm, the media is invited to attend.

The Naugatuck Police Department is proud of all those involved in this situation that acted swiftly, professionally, and worked hard together to all do their part to save this young boys life.
