Naugatuck Landlord Accused of Turning His Tenant's Power Off

The landlord claims he was owed $2,500.

What do you do when your tenant allegedly owes you money for rent? Well one Naugatuck landlord is accused of repeatedly turning off the electricity on his tenant, and now he’s been arrested.

Police say Alexander Oneshuk, 67, of Andrew Mountain, shut off his tenant’s electricity on Saturday, and has done so in the past.

Oneshuk told News 8 that his tenant owes him $2,500 for past tent that is due and that he wants him to leave.

But it is illegal in Connecticut to turn off a tenant’s electricity for malicious reasons, News 8 reports.

Police officers responded to 1057 Andrew Avenue on Saturday for the dispute.

Oneshuk was charged with violation of home/office health requirements and disorderly conduct. He was released after posting $5,000 bond.
