Naugatuck Man Accused of Assaulting Woman: Police

The accused was initially held in lieu of a $5,000 bond.

NAUGATUCK, CT β€” A Naugatuck man, John Hanas, 29, of Idleview Drive, is accused of assaulting a woman during a domestic disturbance, police said. On July 18, police responded to a reported domestic fight between Hanas and the victim, police said.

Police say Hanas arrived at the home while intoxicated which led to an argument, police said. While leaving the home, Hanas "grabbed the victim's neck and pushed her out of the way," police said.

The accused was found near the home. While he was being charged, Hanas was found to be in possession of a controlled substance, police said.

He was initially held in lieu of a $5,000 bond and is charged with disorderly conduct, third-degree assault and possession of a controlled substance.
