Naugatuck Man Arrested Twice For Engaging Police In Pursuit: PD

Police say an officer tried to stop the vehicle after realizing the accused was wanted and then the man drove off at a high rate of speed.

NAUGATUCK, CT — A Naugatuck man already accused of engaging police in pursuit previously is accused of doing the same exact thing once again, police say. On Jan. 2 at 5:21 p.m. an officer tried to initiate a motor vehicle investigation in the area of Spencer and Ward streets.

Andreau Dehart, 30, of Ward Street, had an active arrest warrant out of Naugatuck for engaging officers in pursuit on Aug. 31, police said. The officer initiated his overhead lights and siren to stop the vehicle, police said. The accused then engaged the officer in pursuit and fled the scene at a high rate of speed, police said.

The accused was found at his residence sometime later by officers and arrested, police said. Dehart was given a court date of Jan. 17 to appear at Waterbury Superior Court. He was released on a $5,000 bond.
