Naugatuck Man Charged With DUI In New Haven I-95 Multi-Car Crash: PD

At 7:30 p.m. on I-95 S at exit 46, a car driven by Justin Matthew Sollenne, 30, sideswiped another, setting off a chain crash, police said.

NEW HAVEN, CT β€”A four-car crash on I-95S near exit 46 in New Haven Thursday night sent five to the hospital with minor injuries, and a Naugatuck man charged with DUI, state police said.

According to the Connecticut State Police accident report, at around 7:30 p.m., a 2013 Jeep driven by 30-year-old Justin Matthew Sollenne, sideswiped a 2019 Honda and then entered an uncontrolled spin, coming to rest facing north in the right shoulder of the roadway. Meanwhile, the car Sollenne hit was pushed right and collided with a Toyota RAV4, which was in the second lane from the right. The SUV also spun out, and it was hit by a semi truck, which was in the far right lane.

Drivers and passengers of all vehicles, save for the semi and Sollenne, were taken to Yale New Haven Hospital for treatment of what police called suspected minor injuries.

During the investigation, state troopers gave Sollenne a field sobriety test, which he failed. He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, reckless driving and failure to stay in his lane. State police said Sollenne was later released on a $500 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear at New Haven Superior Court Aug. 19.
