Naugatuck Man Charged With DUI: Police

Police say the accused slammed his girlfriend's head into a wall and left the scene.

NAUGATUCK, CT β€” A Naugatuck man is accused of slamming his girlfriend's head into a wall and leaving the scene while under the influence, police said. On July 4, 2019 officers responded to a domestic disturbance between boyfriend/girlfriend where Steven M. Day, 36, of Highland Avenue, reportedly slammed his girlfriend's head into the wall, police said.

Day had left prior to officers' arrival and was reported to be under the influence of alcohol, police said. The accused returned to the home and upon further investigation was found to be driving while under the influence of alcohol and had a suspended license, police said. The accused was released on a $5,000 bond. He is charged with illegally operating a motor vehicle while under the influence and disorderly conduct.
